Ballaghaderreen, from the Irish 'Bealach an Doír' meaning the way of the little oak, is a busy cathedral town in Roscommon, on the Mayo/Roscommon border and close to the Lung River.

The town is only a stone's throw from County Mayo, with Ireland West Airport Knock and Knock Shrine in particular within easy reach. Visitors to the Ballaghaderreen area can also delve into the anomoly of the local GAA club being part of the Mayo league, but it's probably best not to do so if Roscommon are playing Mayo around the time of your visit!
Like many regions of county Roscommon, Ballaghaderreen has plenty to offer visitors who have an interest in history, with hill forts and a neolithic tomb in Fairlymount Hill, Aughurine Stone Circle, ringforts and nearby Loughglynn House and Loughglynn Castle.
